Bud Hollowell died of cancer recently, leaving those he loved to continue his work at Flamingo Homecare. Bud’s academic background included a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California where he studied physical education, gerontology and aging. As a young man he played on the 1964 US Olympic Baseball Team in Tokyo, Japan, followed by thirteen years with the Los Angeles Dodgers Organization. With more than 25 years experience in managing, training, communications skills, family therapy, as well as stress reduction techniques and caregiving strategies, Bud was previously a hypnotherapist in private practice while living in Alaska, and a mental health counselor during the ten years he and Sheila lived in Hawaii. He published two books on philosophy and consciousness. In Lakeland, he was well known as an outstanding college professor. He served on the Board of Directors for the Polk Senior Games which encourages seniors to participate in sporting competition.

“My primary goal for Flamingo Homecare is to help people age gracefully while continuing to live in their own surroundings, enjoying the life they have worked to create, and take all pressure off family caregiving members, so they can enjoy their time with loved ones, while getting their own lives back.”
