Best Lakeland Home Care - Sheila Hollowell - Homecare Lakeland, Winter Haven, Bartow, and Polk CountyThe Caregivers

Screening

Flamingo Homecare employs only thoroughly screened professionally credentialed caregivers selected through a rigorous process that exceeds the State of Florida’s legally required Level II FBI Background Check. Our caregivers are subject to 4 additional types of clearances that aim to reveal a broader base of other lesser difficulties, such as misdemeanors, driving violations, or even civil problems such as complaints by landlords. We go the extra mile on background checks because we belief that character is as important to a caregiver as their job skills and experience.

Credentialing

Flamingo Homecare caregivers have completed college course work or state regulated career certifications, such as Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) or Medical Assistants (MA). Their licenses have their own professional and behavioral requirements, code of conduct and ethics, and require continuing education credits annually that are regulated and approved by the Florida Department of Hospital Administration. This is significant because most of our competitors do not meet this standard. Many companies simply hire applicants considered “good with people” then conduct some sort of in house short term training.

Professional Experience

Flamingo Homecare requires caregivers to have a history of 3 to 5 years previous professional experience in the homecare field. All caregivers are non-smoking because we believe it is important to the health of our clients.

Availability

Caregivers are available for a variety of caregiving situations, such as recovery after a hospital stay, helping seasonal “snow bird” visitors open and close their Florida homes, or transportation errands for someone who has lost their driving privilege. The certifications each caregiver has earned determine which assignments they are given. For instance, there are special academic certifications for Alzheimer’s and dementia, diabetes, or medication monitoring.

Compatibility Matching

Flamingo Homecare caregivers specific skills and experience are matched to client needs, interests, background, language, health conditions, geographic location, and personality.

Choice

As a client, you participate in the process of choosing the specific caregiver that you want.

Caregivers work on a buddy system with 2 caregivers assigned to each client so that a substitute is in place for back-up that is familiar with your loved one, their wants, and their needs. Once you are established with your selected caregivers, you can expect to have the same ones each visit.

Flamingo Homecare pays our caregivers more than other homecare companies and we charge our clients significantly less. We have an extremely low turnover rate of caregivers.
